Featured Blog Design: Chomey toU Kraf

ChomeytoU Kraf is a blogshop selling craft supplies and receiving handmade crafts as well. The design was considered a quick process because Maizah, the owner of the blog, knew exactly what she needed. She wanted a cute design with a girl sewing and sitting on a tree swing in a garden with flowers, bees under a blue sky and a plane passing by. If you look at the footer, that's where I put the details of the garden fence and the flowers.

Please visit the blog here! to see it live and appreciate the design more :D. Good luck to Maizah!

Featured Blog Design: Suri Aryani

This is a blog design for Suri Aryani, one of the member of the Scarflets. Knowing that she's a stylish lovely person, I want her blog to balance her character. And at the same time,  the blog shouldn't be dominant than her beautiful blog content.

I needed a sleek design, not too much elements but will still be able to stand out. I was so glad that she loves it! This is the blog to see it live.

Featured Blog Design: Excited yet Nervous

This blog sounds so familiar to me and maybe to some of you. Of course! It's actually my personal blog which had been neglected since last November. However, I recently felt like I'm supposed to continue blogging since I had missed bunch of things. The very first intention to create it was because of my son. I recorded almost each of his milestones and my love letters with the hope that he'll be able to read them one day.

In order to get the new spirit, I decided to do a makeover to the blog design. The concept is 'modern and simple'. Unlike the previous designs, this time it comes with a very little green (my favorite color!) and a bit more to grey. Not too many graphics but it's kind of refreshing. To view it live, here is the link!

Featured Blog Design: Something Sweet

This is a blog design for Something Sweet Craft Blog. It is a sweet pink design, with 'Vintage" as the theme. Vintage style very often becomes design inspiration. Whether you like it or not, vintage elements are now running wild. They are reclaimed and repurposed from fashion, home décor to crafting supplies. Now it’s even right down to Blog Design! You can combine the delicate vintage and modern elements together to create something inspirational.

You may visit the blog here to see it live.

Featured Blog Design: Kawaii Cotton

If you remember this post on the Sundae Brights colour inspiration, well the preferred colours for this Kawaii Cotton's design were inspired from the colour scheme. The theme was about fabric and sewing with added flowers to make it cheerful. I'd like to say thank you to Nureen of Kawaii Cotton for her faith in me. This was her third order! Please visit the site here.

Featured Blog Design: MamAlya Boutique

The owner of MamAlya's boutique is a repeat client of Kami blog. I tell you she's a sweetheart and easy to work with. The preferred color is pink! The concept that I would like to introduce is "Fun and Elegant". That's where I put the sweet polka dots.

You know that less is more, minimalist is somehow a better option. With stripes background and matching social media icons, voila here's the layout. And she loved the first draft. Yay!

You are invited to visit the site here. She sews and creates various pretty stuff.

Featured Blog Design: Yumnilicious

Introducing new package: Blogshop Premium where you get BlogShop Gallery Layout with coordinated Post Templates Pre-format. Yumnilicious is my first launched site using the Blogshop Premium.

On the design, Zila, the site owner requested damask pattern with pink, purple and white as the chosen colors. She specifically requested her site not to look too professional. Then I decided to play with the colors and merged them in stripe background. For me it looks as yummy as the products she offers. Please visit her site, Yumnilicious, browse through her site and start ordering those yummy cakes!

Featured Blog Design: Kisah Kawin Kak Long

I love the look of the face. Since I focused particularly on the face for this illustrated character, there was more time for me to work on the detailing. I noticed that eyes are the most important key of any facial features. Honestly, drawing them can be incredibly difficult.

Kisah Kawin means Wedding Story. Kak Long, the simple, lovely client is a soon bride to be. She wants something pretty to suit her blog which posts mostly on her preparation for her big day. The two sidebars were placed side by side tied with a ribbon to signify engagement or wedding. The requested colour is pink. I blended  peach, light pink and white for the entire colour scheme. The leaf background completes the design without making the layout look too crowded.

Please visit her blog here to wish her good luck for the D-day.

Featured Blog Design: Tiefazatie's Personal Life

Hello teddies! Here is a design for Tiefazatie. She is one of the two winners of our first Giveaway. Tiefa loves pink and teddy bears. She sounds to be a fun girl so I introduced her a casual design for her blog. Designing the blog was fun. I just had to get a real good mood. Check out her blog, she got loads of stories to blog about.

Featured Design: Monsters and Robots

If you've seen the Portfolio the past few weeks, I have added a few designs to it. Let me introduce one of my favorite designs, it is Monsters and Robots at techeora.com.

Dennis wanted a yellow robot  and a few purple and brown robots scattered around. Now that I'm used to draw girl characters, I found that illustrating monsters are fun too! LOL. Honestly, the tricky part for me is to draw the robot. The robot is meant to be four times bigger in size than the monsters. I believe he should be the 'hero' and kind of stands out from the little crowd (of monsters), thus for sure he has to look prettier than them. I love how it turned out. A glossy smart yellow robot.

And this is my secret. I did not draw it in Photoshop, I used SketchUp™ instead. It is a great tool to produce 3D. If you're in Architecture field, I believe SketchUp™ is a no alien to you. The best thing about drawing 3D is you just draw once and you can get as many angles as you want.

If you're interested, I can make one for you too! Please visit techeora.com. Dennis got interesting news on the latest technologies.

Webpage Design for thebrownbench.com

I wish to update what I installed quite sometime ago. The client, Hidayah, will be launching a book rental. I'm happy cause this is a different design experience. Not only she has a different, interesting type of business, she also has a purchased domain, hosted by an external domain provider.  I helped to configure the DNS settings to link to the Blogger, where the page is set. I was so glad it worked well!

On the design, she requested illustration of two people sitting on a bench located under a tree. One person is reading a book, while the other one is listening to music.

I introduced these two persons, a girl and a boy. So as requested, the girl is listening to the music. I tried to make her gesture as relaxed and happy as possible. And there's a guy reading a book. He got more books, the intention is to emphasize that thebrownbench.com got more books. So he is a guy with an afro. Not sure how I came up with it though LOL but I tried to make this guy look cool so as to avoid paradigm that only nerds read books.

Initially Hidayah requested less colour on the design, but I was happy that finally she decided to have different colours on the clothing, the books and the background. I love the blue background! I put the title at the bottom of the illustrations to enrich the design. This is definitely one of my favorite designs ever.
Last but not least, here's an animated button for her. Please visit her site and rent a book!

Featured Design: Ciknal's Blog

Remember about the Giveaway in celebration of opening this new design studio? So CikNal was one of the two winners.

CikNal requested swirl flowers, a cartoon character wearing a shawl + t-shirt + pants and holding a laptop. When she mentioned about 'pants', my mind was automatically thinking, this character must be a full length, standing and oh yes she's holding a laptop. A standing-positioned character always looks boring so I thought this girl should stand in a way that she will still look pretty and stylish. I added on a pair of high-heeled boots by the way, to make her look cool :D  CikNal wears glasses, so I thought it'd be good if the character got a pair as well. So I added those! She's now a character with glasses. Looks smart yet hot and.. I love her!  :D

The choice of colours are black, purple and pink. I was trying to convince her to change the dark colour scheme by giving her options but she still preferred this one. I was worried if it would only look dull. But when looking on the finish product,  I was wrong. The combination of black+purple+white+pink is perfect :D Honestly it was too bold for me at first, but now I can adjust my eyes to suit other people's view and feel what others expect. This blog design thing is not about the designer, but it's about the people you're working with, to understand what they need and bring the creativity out of it. I don't make design decisions based on my personal preferences only. So I guess I've got a point here.. I've learned something.

Webpage Design for SafriMd.com

The client is a professional registered architect who loves cycling. He got a group of active cyclists in Kuching. They have regular cycling activities around the town every week and also long distance outstation rides. SafriMd team sponsors one of Malaysia's strongest cycling team and occasionally joins special events every now and then around Malaysia. This site also accommodates his company and a portfolio of their selected projects.

The concept of the page design is minimalist. Selected colours are extracted from the logo - black, yellow and blue. I also provided sliders of the cycling activities and portfolio. I tried to blend architecture and cycling and this is how I came up, a line of peloton with a skyline of Kuching city.

I'm proudly to say this is the second webpage project I have done after Logika Teknik which I did in 2005.

Blog Design for Idza Delights

Idza Delights is where you can find and get cute custom cakes and cupcakes. I love working with Idza, her input was very useful. She knew what she wanted. Working with her was easy, definitely it helped me a lot to come up with the design. Guess what, she approved the first draft!

Idza is a teacher and baking is her hobby. I want the blog to represent her well. She wanted a cartoon character, holding a cupcake in one hand and a chalk in the other. As in my opinion chalk wouldn't be a cake's best partner, and it's dusty as well, so I was thinking of having other idea. Then I introduced a black board (which in this case is green) and made use of the board to write her blog name and its tagline.

This was the first time I drew cupcakes and cakes and guess what, I fell in love and really enjoyed illustrating each of them. lol. The preferred colours were pink, blue and purple. As usual, I love neat design so I tried to make this three column layout as neat as possible. The colours won't hurt your eyes, the site should be access friendly, easy to read and load fast.

So to support my client, please visit her site. Her cakes are deliciously beautiful. trust me  ;)
